Pregnancy can be a challenging time for many women and their bodies. Some may want to have surgery as soon as they give birth. Others wait months or years before undergoing any plastic surgery.
Doing so can change how a mom looks from the outside, making them feel better on the inside.
So, when’s the right time for your mommy makeover procedures?
The right time frame for surgery depends on the procedure you’re looking to get. Here’s the estimated time to consider getting post-pregnancy plastic surgery:
Tummy Tuck: 12-24 Months
After pregnancy, you’ll have excess skin around your belly button and loose abdominal muscles. You may also have stretch marks extending over the lower part of your belly.
A tummy tuck addresses these concerns by tightening the skin and abdominal muscles.
Dr. Nick Masri advises women to wait for at least 12 months after birth before having a tummy tuck. Women who’ve had two or more consecutive deliveries are advised to wait 24 months.
Also, consider a tummy tuck only when you’re finished having children.
Genital Beautification: 6 Months
Genital plastic surgery is not new, but it’s only become a popular mommy makeover option in the last few years. It improves the look of your vaginal area and heals injuries suffered during delivery and childbirth recovery.
If you’re thinking about this surgery, it is best to wait at least six months after giving birth.
Breast Surgeries: 3-6 Months
Your breasts will change for several months after giving birth. If you decide to breastfeed, the changes in your body will continue.
Luckily, you can have breast surgery afterward, including lifts, reductions, and enhancements.
But you must let your body fully recover from childbirth before undergoing breast surgery. That said, Dr. Nidal Masri recommends waiting for at least three to six months after giving birth before doing this procedure.
While there are no set rules for childbirth recovery, most women feel more prepared for surgery if they first give their bodies a breather.
Some patients might feel ready in six months. Others may not want to undergo plastic surgery until they’re done having kids. Remember that the time frame for a mommy makeover will be different for everyone.
